Las Posadas
Every year, our parish follows a traditional Mexican custom in which we follow Mary and Joseph through the streets of Bethlehem looking for a place to stay. The children dress up as shepherds and angels and lead the procession. Eventually, they lead us into the church where we open our hearts and give Jesus a warm and safe place to be born. It's such a beautiful custom and the children really bring so much to it...even if they have short attention spans.

Samuel's Baptism Day

Same image as posted earlier but without the smudge stick effect. Which is better? Does anybody know how I can get rid of the graininess and preserve the tenderness of this moment?

David took this image during a portrait session with our friends' granddaughter. It came out really dark but I couldn't stand to let such an adorable image go. I lightened it up a bit and converted it to black and white. But McKaylah's face and hands came out kind of splotchy. So I used "smudge stick" in PSE to get this effect.

How'd you do that?
Dominic was quite the entertainer at the Taekwondo Christmas party this evening. He shocked and amazed all the kids with his card tricks.

We did a friend's office group portrait for Christmas cards. This was one of the fun options we created from the shots we took. I thought it looked fun but still businesslike.

I got home from Atlanta just in time to watch Andrew retest for his 2nd degree black belt. In the original testing, he failed to break one of his three boards. But last night, he shined. I'm glad I got to see it. He'll know next week if he passed. But he is pretty confident that he did.

Father and Son.
This is the oldest of our six kids, John and his little boy, Jimmy. Our visit with them comes to and end this morning.

Antiquing on the same image. I think I like this one a little better than the water color. I like the way it works with the fog to make the image look old.
