We tried to do a family portrait of John, Ashley and Jimmy yesterday at the top of Kennesaw Mountain. But the top of the mountain was completely shrouded in fog which looked great for the background but awful on my subjects. So I tried a few different effects to save this pose. This is the watercolor effect.
I don't believe I have introduced John and Ashley to you. John is the oldest of our six children (age 23) and Ashley is his wife.

My grandson is such a guy. :D

My favorite little boy in the whole world....Jimmy. This evening, I had the privilege of having dinner with my 20 month old grandson whom I have not seen in a year.

Celine was my gracious model as I attempted to implement some of the lighting techniques I had read about in a portraiture book.
I'm leaving this morning for Atlanta. So I will be in and out between now and Tuesday. I'll try to get a picture up of my grandson tomorrow. :)

Quack!
This giant petrified duck is an HDR composite of six shots. It's actually part of the same rock formation as the shot I posted on 12/08.
Thank you to everybody for your kind words about yesterday's tribute to Amy. I don't think I could ever come up with the words to do her memory justice. But I can always try.

On this day six years ago, Amy drew her last breath at the young age of 33. She was David’s first wife. Some of you are my friends on Facebook and may have seen my reaction to the government’s new guidelines on breast cancer prevention. This is why my reaction was so strong. Amy was diagnosed at the age of 27. I never met her. But I know her very well through her three awesome children who I am raising. Amy was an energetic full time homeschooling mom. She was completely deaf but could read lips and had learned to speak with her voice when she was a little girl. She fought a lot of hard odds in her life. She even delayed part of her cancer treatment when she found out she was pregnant with Celine. As a mother, she placed her unborn child’s life before her own….and I’m so glad she did. Celine is my “living relic” of Amy. She has Amy’s big brown eyes, beautiful toothy smile and especially her spunky spirit. Amy, I know you are praying for us. Love doesn’t end when we go home to heaven. It just gets stronger. Tonight we will celebrate your birthday into heaven just as we do every year. Six years and one day ago, you could not hear your children’s voices. But tonight, I hope their voices penetrate the heavens and fill your heart with song and joy.

More of Devil's Den at Gettysburg
The more I think about this battleground, the more I realize what a recipe for death the Battle at Gettysburg was. I think I'm going to go through all my images and make a collage that shows why so many people died here.
Camera info absent because it's an HDR.

In honor of the fallen at Pearl Harbor, this is from the post Civil War section of Gettysburg National Military Park. I don't believe there would be any of Pearl Harbor's fallen buried here, just mostly civil war vets who survived Gettysburg and wives and children of Civil War vets. But in my heart, I know that to honor even one who has fought as an American soldier, is to honor all who have fought as American soldiers.
The camera info is absent because this is an HDR image.

Playing in the Snow
During our trip to Gettysburg, we drove down to Maryland and visited my brother and his beautiful family. It snowed most of the day and I got to go outside and play with the girls in the snow. This is Sandi, the middle of the three kids. That face just makes me smile. :)
