This is why Tiny and Tino love Celine so much. She's the one who usually takes them for their walks (no matter how difficult they make it for her).

Ruffled
This is Freckles, our Cockatiel. HIs featheres are a little ruffled after a number of flashes in his face. This is a macro, so the flash is on 1/2 power only inches from is eyes. But he's still a good sport.

Life does not accommodate you, it shatters you. It is meant to, and it couldn't do it better. Every seed destroys its container or else there would be no fruition.

Listen
After the wind there was an earthquake--but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake there was fire--but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound. When he heard this, Elijah hid his face in his cloak and went and stood at the entrance of the cave. (I Kings 19)
How often do I really listen for God’s voice? I am usually so busy talking to Him. All the while, He is whispering in my ear. “Be still and know that I am God”. (Psalm 46)

This whole macro thing is kind of fun. I never thought I'd ever be able to get a candid of a butterfly sticking his tongue out. Can you find his eye? "X" marks the spot. :)
This image is S.O.C. It isn't quite as crisp as I'd like it to be. Focusing was a little challenging. Using an extension tube and a manual lens, I had to move the camera back and forth to bring it into focus. Being only a few inches from the butterfly, the movement of the camera startled him several times and he fluttered away. But it was breakfast time and he was hungry. So I waited each time and he came back. Lantana, yum.

It's kind of difficult to tell that this is a macro since there is nothing to scale it against. It is the center of a tiny rose. The entire rose is only about an inch or so in diameter.

Keeping a Sense of Humor:
I had my annual eye appointment yesterday. It seems my eyes are a little older than I am. I have Fuch's dystrophy. The cells that are responsible for removing excess water from my corneas are dying. Right now, it just means my vision is really blurry in the morning. Eventually, the blurriness will begin to last all day. Then, as the cells become pretty sparse and the water builds up in the corneas, they form blisters. Eventually, the blisters pop. The blistering part of the disease is supposed to be painful. The whole thing leads to blindness. Isn't this the perfect disease for a photographer? Thank God for auto focus, huh? It's all okay though because there is intervention....cornea transplants. I'm not there yet. I just have morning blurries. But my doctor says that the disease has progressed unusually far for my age. I'm 45. When I went home and looked up the disease on the internet, I found its description on the AARP page...great. This goes perfectly with the arthritis in my back. :D I'm a 45 year old 85 year old. I'm going to just roll with it for now. I don't have blisters, I'm not blind and I'm not in a wheel chair. It's all good for now. But maybe I should write that book now while I can still see the keyboard. I've said that I don't want the world to see how I look but rather look at how I see the world. If I wait too long, they'll just have to close their eyes to do that.

My first macro.
Be honest. I can take it. These are Celine's First Communion pearls from a few years ago (the pearls, not the image). The image is true to color. They are not white, but rather a creamy peach. We don't have a macro lens. I used an extension tube and a manual focus 100 mm lens. The image is almost s.o.c. except I used the heal tool to erase the detail in the weave of the fabric in the foreground. Viewed in X2L, you can see the flaws on the surface of the pearls.

Thank you so much for all of the well wishes for Tino. His absence would leave such a hole in my heart.
