Flowers for Heaven's Sake

***Flowers for Heaven's Sake*** Do not let Sunday be taken from you. If your soul has no Sunday, it becomes an orphan. ~Albert Schweitzer

The flowers at the Altar are always so beautiful, sometimes even breathtaking. So I decided to start a series to share them with you each week. My plan is to post a picture of the flowers in my church once per week. This should be a reasonably uninterrupted plan until Lent comes next spring. There aren't supposed to be any flowers in the church during the season of Lent. So we'll have to see what happens then. Until then, I hope you all enjoy our flowers for heaven's sake as much as I do every week. :)

***Happy New Year!!!***
Today was the first Sunday of the Catholic new year, the first Sunday of Advent. The familiar old wreath of three purple, one pink and one white candles has taken its place in the Sanctuary of every Catholic church in the world and at the center of millions of dinner tables. And it reminds us to "Prepare the way!"

***Altar Flowers is Sepia***
I haven't posted in this gallery in a while because there hasn't been Altar flowers lately. The flowers today were absolutely beautiful, very vibrant. But I kind of like the way they look in sepia too.

***I'm sorry I missed posting the flowers for the past couple of weeks. Last week, we were out of town and did not stay after Mass to take pictures of the flowers. The week before, I forgot to bring my camera to Mass. I hope you enjoy this week's flowers.

***Be humble like Mary so that you can be holy like Jesus. ~ Mother Teresa

This morning, my favorite statue was in front of the Altar with a beautiful bouquet of red flowers. I'm pretty sure these are not the flowers for the week. If I'm correct, I will post another picture to this gallery when the new flowers are up.

***Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Because of it, the ancients were well attested. ~Hebrews
This weekend was filled with faith and grace. Saturday, we attended a conference where the key note speaker was a man who will likely be canonized a saint some day. On Sunday, I served for my first time as an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. The first person I administered Holy Communion to was my own son, Andrew. God is so very good. I was standing just a few feet from these flowers when I administered the Precious Blood of my Lord to my children, my friends and my neighbors. But I will always treasure most especially the moment I began this ministry looking into my child's eyes. How could a mother's heart ask for more?

***Flowers for Heaven's Sake***
Please see my gallery description for the explanation of this series.
Week 1: I hope you all enjoy the daisies as much as I do. The flowers this week are mostly pink and white. I took this shot from in front of the Tabernacle.
