09-11-2009 "Do Not Underestimate the Will of the American People!" There is nothing visually spectacular about this picture. But it carries an emotional punch. I cannot imagine a single American who eight years ago tonight could have imagined that they would ever board a plane again on September 11th. Some of that resolve may have been from fear and some from respect for those who lost their lives that day. But even one year ago, many of us still could not imagine boarding a plane on September 11th. Yet today, this full flight departed from Charlotte North Carolina for Washington DC. Whether or not you agree with their cause, their actions today speak volumes about the resolve of the American people. I hope that Americans never allow their fears to subdue their will to protect the country they love.
09-10-2009 "Playing in the Rain" Normally, the plant life in this picture is below the surface of the water. But after two years of harsh drought, most of the lakes in Central Texas have lost some volume. Finally, we got some rain two days in a row. This little green heron seemed to really be enjoying the light sprinkle just before the downpour. Hopefully, we will not have trouble posting our dailies for 9-11 and 9-12. We are flying to Washington DC on Friday. I'm sure there will be lots of pictures from the trip. But I'm not sure what the internet connection will be like in the hotel.
