10-24-2009 Remember when your world looked like this?
10-23-2009 Courage has a name. Her name is Gianna. Last night, I watched this 32 year old woman struggle to walk unassisted up a few stairs to stand at a podium and share her passion for life with 1,250 people. This may not seem like much of an accomplishment. But I know nobody who has had to overcome the kinds of obstacles she has. Gianna Jessen struggles with every step she takes because she has what she calls “the gift of cerebral palsy” because she was born in a Los Angeles abortion clinic during a failed late term saline abortion. She came into this world fighting for her own life. Now she fights for the lives of others. She has held audience with many who love her and many others who hate her. I don’t think it is possible to be indifferent about her. She says that she is willing to be hated, and she is most certainly hated by many. But that doesn’t stop her from telling her story. You can read her story at http://www.giannajessen.com/ and can find several of her appearances on YouTube. I hope you do take a few minutes to learn more about Gianna. Her zest for life, her passion, her spirit will simply inspire you.
10-22-2009 It is better to light one candle than it is to curse the darkness. I wonder what kind of darkness was in the lives of the people who lit these candles, loss of a friend, a parent, a spouse, a child. Maybe somebody was having surgery. Maybe another lost his job. Maybe somebody just needed a spark of hope to help make it through the day. No matter why each of these candles was lit, I pray that it pierced the darkness. May there always be a light to pierce any darkness in your lives.
