11/03/2010 ***Watch Party*** After spending 12 hours holding signs at our local poll, we attended Dr. Donna Campbell's watch party. She lost the race to 16 year incumbent, Lloyd Doggett. The 2012 campaign starts today :) I hope that where ever you live, your representatives are representing you well.

11/01/2010 ***The Stuff that Saints are Made of*** In honor of All Saints' Day, I am posting a picture David took yesterday. It's easy to put a huge barrier between ourselves and our potential for sainthood. After-all, we are fallen creatures, aren't we? But somebody told me once that saints are nothing more than the sinners who fall down and get back up. This is our friend, Elizabeth and she is absolutely radiant, not only on the outside, but also from within. She is so young and yet she is the executive director of Austin Coalition for Life and 40 Days for Life campaign director. Yesterday marked the end of a 40 Days for Life campaign and Elizabeth organized a big celebration for all of the lives that were saved and lives that were changed by this campaign. Now, I honestly can't tell you how Elizabeth has fallen in her life. I don't know. I just know that she is filled with an amazing zest for life and she gives everything of herself to share that zest with others. She crosses over the barriers that can so easily keep the fallen on the ground. She reaches for God and He pulls her up because she is willing to reach out to strangers in loving ways. She reaches out to women who have lost their sense of hope and helps them see the hope that gives them a reason to keep their babies. She connects them with the resources that make it possible for them to make it through the months ahead of them. But most importantly, she loves them and prays for them and their babies. This is the stuff that saints are made of. I'm 46 years old, and when I grow up, I want to be just like my young friend, Elizabeth. Blessed All Saints' Day to you. Today, may we all find in ourselves something like what Elizabeth has found in herself.
